Deshundra Jefferson was appointed this week as CUNA’s chief strategic communications officer.
In her role, Jefferson will be responsible for developing and implementing CUNA’s communications strategy in dealing with policymakers, the media and consumers.
Jefferson previously served as traveling press secretary and primary spokesperson for the Democratic presidential campaign of Deval Patrick, the former Governor of Massachusetts.
“Deshundra’s skillset spans across many critical areas of communications that we plan to leverage in taking a holistic approach to our advocacy and credit union engagement,” CUNA Chief Engagement Officer Greg Michlig said.
“Credit unions are the best kept secret in the financial services sector,” Jefferson said.
Jefferson also has served as a principal at the Raben Group, a Washington, D.C. lobbying, consulting and public affairs firm.
Jefferson holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Columbia University and a master’s degree in Communication from Johns Hopkins University.
