The National Credit Union Administration on July 19 will begin allowing staff and contractors to work onsite at credit unions where pandemic conditions have moderated, agency board Chairman Todd Harper announced Wednesday.
In a letter to credit union officials, Harper wrote that NCUA staff will be expected to follow credit union safety and security policies if they exceed those of the NCUA.
He said that, if possible, the NCUA will respect a credit union’s preference to not have examinations staff onsite during this phase but added that the agency reserves the right to have staff at a credit union to address serious and time-sensitive matters.
The agency will continue to maintain heightened safeguards in the agency’s facilities to ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors, Harper said.
“The health, safety, and well-being of its staff and credit union employees remains a top priority for the NCUA,” he added.
